Board evaluation
An effective board is crucial to a company’s success and the delivery of strategic objectives. Therefore, performing regular board evaluations is critical, asking the question does the board have what it needs to be effective and fulfil its responsibilities to stakeholders. At Ellason we help boards answer this question.
How we can help
Our approach
Board evaluations should not be seen as a “tick box” exercise to satisfy corporate governance requirements. Rather they are an opportunity to gather insight into the dynamics of the board, identifying changes to optimise performance. Recognising this, we adopt a consultative approach, gathering information through 1:1 interviews characterised by the use of open-ended questions and a challenging style.
The process
Each project is tailored, but will include some or all of the following: kick-off meeting, a questionnaire, 1:1 meetings, document review, observation of board and committee meetings, report of findings including actionable recommendations and a follow-up meeting and / or presentation to the board.
